jreams. . .
hi! i’m shaye, the artist behind MADEBYCHINITA.
what started as a place to share my artwork has grown into a home for every idea that inspires me. i don’t like limiting myself to one medium, so you’ll find everything from paintings and clothing to books, home décor, and whatever else my curiosity leads me to create.
many of my pieces are rooted in things i care deeply about—culture, sustainability, storytelling, and creativity. through upcycled clothing, i hope to encourage a more thoughtful way of consuming fashion. through my artwork, i enjoy exploring history, identity, and traditions that deserve to be remembered and shared. through my book, i hope to inspire adults to reconnect with journaling, imagination, and creative expression.
i’m filipino, chinese, and black. growing up, my mom called me her “chinita doll,” which eventually became my online username, "babychinita". years later, it evolved into madebychinita—the name that now represents everything i create.
i rarely begin a piece by asking, “what should i make?” instead, i wait until an idea feels meaningful enough that i can’t stop thinking about it. that’s why i don’t take many custom commissions. my best work happens when inspiration comes naturally. if you’ve connected with an existing piece and would like to see it on another medium, i’d love to hear from you.
thank you for visiting my little corner of the internet. it truly means the world to me that something i’ve made found its way to you. ♡
still growing
